The Complete Hank Williams boxed set garnered two Grammy Awards including Best Historical Album for producers Colin Escott, Kira Florita, and The Country Music Foundation; and Best Boxed Recording Package for Jim Kemp and Virginia Team.
The complete Hank Williams boxed set, executive produced by Mercury Nashville President, Luke Lewis, was initially released to coincide with the Sept. 17, 1998, 75th anniversary of Williams' birth.
A note from the Producers
For purposes of this box set, "complete" denotes all existing session masters and all available non-session and demo masters recorded by Hank Williams. The only exceptions are known recordings not included for the following reasons: non-essential versions which are neither special nor distinct, recordings which are in extremely poor condition, and known masters which are unavailable for legal reasons. To avoid excessive duplication the selection of broadcast performances is not complete, but designed to reflect songs Hank did not record elsewhere and the best Alive performances of his most well-known songs.
